Hi,
Wondering if there is anyone out there with an eSATA Raid/JBOD solution for their HR21. I've read some posts with solutions for HR20 but not the HR21.
Currently I have an Antec MX-1 with Seagate 750GB that is nearly full. I'd like to get a Raid/JBOD enclosure and drop this drive in there and add additional drives. I would run either Raid 0 or JBOD.
Thanks

Why would you run RAID 0 or JBOD?
Do you not worry about losing your recordings if one of your drives fail?
Then you might as well buy a 2 TB Drive as I did and then open up the DVR (violating the Directv Warranty if you do unless you OWN the DVR) and install the 2 TB Drive as it only takes about 30 minutes to do it.
While I havent tried it, I dont think sticking your existing disk full of recordings into a raid enclosure and adding another drive will simply extend the size of the directv XFS partition. Never presented a DVR with a drive with more than one partition so I cant say for sure, but I'm thinking its not going to work.
I'm pretty sure you'd need to have your old drive in one enclosure and new drive(s) in the raid enclosure, and copy them over from the old to the new.
If you're going to go through all those troubles, a single larger disk drive is simpler, less expensive than a quality RAID enclosure and another mid size drive, and the points of failure are far fewer.
