Whats your thoughts on this Progressive DVD A/V system?
CC has it for $749.00. This is about my limit?
It's $949.00 with a $200.00 rebate.
John,
If you are on a very tight budget this might be an OK entry-level starter system for you. What you have to realize, though, is that these "Home Theater In A Box" systems have pretty crummy speakers. (Sony doesn't even make what any picky person would consider very good speakers at any price.)
Moreover, you are getting the DVD & A/V receiver in one chassis which does not allow for good reliability, longevity or servicabilty.
I'd recommend you try to save up around another $800-900 and get seperate components and speakers from a real speaker company.

I would agree with HT guy. If you want, you can start out with this then save up some cash to buy a better surround sound system later. I have an Onkyo receiver with Infinity speakers in a 12x25 room and it sounds nice. I paid around 1500 for this. I know there are better systems out there but no more than I watch my big screen, this works for me.

It's a modest little A/V unit, it does a pretty nice job.
