SONY BDP-BX1 Won't play DVD-R's

Are Sony Blu-Ray players (BDP-BX1) not DVD-R compatible? I burned some old wedding VHS 's to DVD-R disks (Taiyo Yuden TYG-02's). They play on every other DVD player I have tried them on. I have the latest Sony firmware. I just got the Sony and got rid of my old player now I can't play anything I've burned. Everything was recorded at 2X even though they are 8x capable.

They are dvd-r compatible. My 350 plays dvd-r fine(same model as yours)

Could be broken, I believe Blu-ray players actually have a second laser for playing DVDs so it could conveivable play Blu-ray fine but still be finicky with DVD

Agreed that it should play DVD-Rs, and that I have done so with my BDP-S350. For those who are unaware, the BX1 is the Costco version of the S350.

I'm having the exact same issue with my sony player (same model).
