I have had to remove (and return) a couple receiver leaving me with three unconnected cables in various rooms. These all come off a MS on the roof which I am unable to access due to age (mine) and weather. Do I need to terminate these 3 unused cable drops inside the house or can they just hang out? What problems can not terminating them cause? Should I keep the cables in a large bucket so the data all falls into one place like a large buffer?

Catch some falling data and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day.
Absolutely do NOT terminate!
If you decide to use a bit-bucket, make sure it is lead lined

I don't know...........when I was doing CATV installs the old guys would install apartments by connecting all the set top cable boxes in the unit; plug them in and turn them on. Then they would go down to the cable room and get the bundle of disconnected apartment feeds in their arms and licked....LICKED!..... each line until they found the ones with a current.
While it worked I still liked my toner.

Of course .... my Blackberry has a serious memory leak and while rebooting it usually helps I try to keep it in a plastic bag so I can keep all leaking smarts in one place and my pocket doesn't get stained. Memory leaks are very messy you know. LOL r u serious :eek2:
