I think that my locals are better than the national channels. But thats my opinion.

My locals are fine, Chesapeake, VA. But channel 3 (CBS) is fuzzy at times. But channel 3 has weak signals OTA so I'm not surprised. The picture I get is better than OTA. The others ABC, NBC, UPN, FOX, PAX, WHRO and some NC channel all come in great.

I just got my locals a week ago on D*. They all look really good, but PBS and ABC look the best. They all sound good too, but the UPN local does have a little bit of hum on the right side. They're so much better than an antenna or even cable. OTA here is a mess, VHF is noisy and UHF has a lot of ghosts.

Here in Atlanta TBS is just disgraceful at times.

Other than that they look as good as any other channel.

The Abc channel in Houston (ktrk 13) looks fine on any local content but looks god awfull when they show the national feed . The people look like they are swimming in a sea of vaseline. They are out of focus , washed out in color , and no comparison to the NewYork Abc which I get as a distant net.
It also looks worse than the Abc channel 13 off Directv which a friend gets next door. I have sent a e-mail to the pocture quality people at Dish and they are supposedly monitoring this channel to trouble shoot. The other local channels look fine with Nbc ( channel 2 KPRC) looking a little more washed out. None of these channel look as well as the NewYork stations when I got all of them before.
I might have to "move " soon if this doesn't improve to get all the distant locals again. Picture Quality matters alot to me and it seems funny to me that Houston the 4th or 3rd biggest city in the country, has such a terrible feed of the national network of ABC.

On D*, my local UPN's audio has gotten worse. On WXMS 27 Jackson, there is a bad hum on the right side, which is getting on my nerves.

I just got and e-mail from Dish over the quality of channel 13 in Houston. The field engineers went to the KTRK channel and made some changes to the equipment there and it reduced some of the noise that I was seeing. They even said if that didn't work they would contact ABC about their network feed to Dish and see if they can improve it on their side.
I do see a difference in the quality but it is still grainey and hazey and no where the same as WABC out of New York. the picture is still a bit washed out, but I am impressed that Dish would go to the trouble to actually go to the station and try to fix the quality based on my one complaint ;( the turnaround on this complaint was less than 3 days.) It speaks volumes on Dish's commitement to pleasing their customers.
I will let you know what happens.

I called WXMS today and talked to the chief engineer. Soon after, the channel went off D* for a few minutes then came back on. The audio sounds better already!

I live in North Mississippi and get the Memphis, Tennessee Locals. The ABC Station WPTY Channel 24 on national content used to look alot darker than local news. But I think they have fixed this.

Well Dish sent me another e-mail and they said their engineers had done more tweaking and I got to say it does look as good as the NewYork distant local. Talk about service !! In less than 5 days they have took this problem and turned it around.
I guess one person can make a difference when there is a problem. It just amazes me that no one else in Houston had seen the problem and not said anything before this.
WAY TO GO DISH!!!!!
