In today's Oregonian, there is a report that Comcast intends to share customer data, including Social Security Numbers and credit information, with an unspecified number of other companies. Obviously they will make some added revenue by these practices.

They are required by FTC rules to disclose, to their customers, their intent to share such information that many consumers feel should be kept private. Comcast promises they will not "abuse" the information, but they are unwilling to put that promise in writing.

Hmm ... I wonder if Comasct can monitor the viewing habits of those with digital cable boxes - not just PPVs or what movie channels they buy, but track every show watched? The DBS companies could use that to generate some FUD to counteract the FUD that the cable companies spew all the time.
