We need version 1.12 on the 721. Version 1.11 has been very troubled, have been getting pixelation and audio dropouts. Scott can you tell them to get this to us. Hope its better than 1.11:shrug:

It is better then 1.11 (which again was just a maintance release)

I would expect 1.12 soon. I know they are doing some final "clean up" before sending it out. Again should be soon.

Thanks for the prompt reply Scott. It just gets annoying sometimes, overall I am happy with the 721. Do you still have the Beta version off 1.12 or did you get 1.11 when it came down??

I have not had pixelation or audio dropout problems that i know of, I do know that the new software has an improved mpeg driver which may fix your issues.

If it was the mpeg driver causing the pixellating then how come are some having the problems and not others? I doubt the new software release will fix those problems, although I wish it would.

The highest priority is to fix the pixellating because you cant enjoy any feature if the receiver is not working right.

Ronster - are you having the pixellation problem with both tuners or just one tuner? Wait for it to start pixellating then press PIP and Swap to change tuners.

On another thread we are trying to figure out if this is a software or hardware problem. It seems to be affecting a fair number of 721s.

Just guessing here....

Some receivers may have some weak analogue parts in them. My guess is that they are sensitive to heat and that tuner one's parts are closer to a heat source.

The software may be compensating for this and the current version is not compensating enough. There may be some sort of calibration routine that is not doing it's job.

There are a number of ways that the software could be failing to control some weak hardware. It could be fixed.

</guessing>

I sure wish Dish would give us more insight on this problem but somehow I doubt we will unless someone calls in with a suprise question. The tuner is not completely failing as they were with the 501's and is intermittent so that leads me to believe that there is a possibility of something in the software going on. I have seen this problem for several months though.

Jacob,
does this seem to happen with newer units or older units. or both.
since it has only been a few months now, I wonder if it is old units going bad or new units that are of poor quality
