How fast are these players?
My current DVD player is a pain due to it taking so long from power off to eject (as well as just eject)..

This may be dated:

It certainly isn't the six minutes that it used to be.

Our LG BD300 takes approx. 10 seconds to power up...once that occurs, all other operations/remote commands function instantly.
Powering it down takes about the same amount of time, about 10 seconds.

Many of the Profile 1.1 and Profile 2.0 Blu Ray players out the past year load in much faster times than the Profile 1.0 units (always one of their biggest complaints).

I have no problems with my Panny BD30 and Magnavox units, and many others do quite well in terms of speed too.

Manufacturers originally used lower-powered processors to save money, but customer complaints across the board have prompted the use of more powerful processors to speed disc load times and menu navigation. The modern units are much better than the 1st and 2nd Gen models. Of course, nothing can touch the PS3 due to its much more powerful CPU, but then, the PS3 *needs* that CPU for gaming, so there was never an option to go with something less powerful.

My biggest complaint is waiting 5-10 sec just to eject the disk.. Most times I leave a netflix disk in after I play it and the next morning goto grab it and have to stand there and wait for the stupid thing to show a pretty "welcome" before it will kick the disk out :(

Yep, I got that problem with my Samsung 2500. :(

It's not very long (5 seconds) but it's annoying nonetheless. My bigger complaint with this unit is that if there's a disc in there and I just power it on to go to the Netflix menu I have to wait a minute or two to let it load the disc and then it will respond to my "Menu" button press.
