when i do a manual dial in it always says phone is busy any solutions out there

This is a DirecTiVo, right? Re-run the phone setup, which will refresh the list of local dial-in numbers, and pick a different number than the one you're using now.

yes it is directv with tivo and i tried this and it still says line in use...

If you have Caller ID make sure you have the phone setup setup correctly.That was my problem.;)

You may have to try all of the numbers given to find a good number.Good Luck!.:)
