Just curious what others have done when there initial free 3 months are up.
Should I call and just cancel all of them? Is there another special available - even if for just one of the channels? I really do not want to spend $35 per month but I would be willing to do something if DTV would offer it.

Yeah, call and cancel all those premiums. Then go to www.netflix.com and sign up. :) All the new releases you want and tons of instant streaming movies available.

Even though we no longer have Netflix this is the option I would recommend.
We've been able to get movie channels at different times for free for 3 or 6 months at a time. Right now we are paying for HBO because we get Cinemax free for 3 months. When that is up we will cancel. Other than that we don't get the movie channels from D* because of the cost.
Although we love watching the movies in HD, we don't have a BR player but prefer the amount of choices from Netflix. We just don't have that much time for it right now.

I usually call them and simply ask if there any promotions I am eligible for.
9 times out of 10 they find something like 3 months of free Starz etc. I almost always have one free movie package - it's Starz/Encore at the moment :D

I have only been with DirecTV since September and I have had free HBO, Showtime, Starz and The Movie Channel since then for free. When my free trials have been up I just call to cancel them and ask if there is any other promotions and they renew all of them for free for additional 3 month periods.

I removed all of my premiums yesterday to avoid being billed. The only thing I kept was the Sports Pack, which I was paying for anyway.
Hulu/Netflix rock! A MUCH, MUCH better choice than a bunch of crappy SD premiums that run movies we don't want to watch. :)
