Can this be done?

Maybe diplexed? It's done that way at some apartment/condo (mdu type) properties that have SWM based DirecTV systems. Can this be done?

It can be diplexed on non-HD systems. I wouldn't attempt it on HD even on SWM. But it tends to be very detrimental to the internet service. Really better off with two lines.

Officially, no. In reality, MAYBE. There are a number of variables that will impact whether it will work or not. But really, the best advice is to run a separate line.

I have successfully diplexed DirecTV with cable/internet. My understanding is that cable only uses frequencies around 930 mHz and below. If you use a SWM setup, it only uses 950 mHz and above. As long as the cable is in good shape, and the frequency ranges don't overlap, it should work. Does anybody know if I was told wrong about the cable frequencies?

I'm not saying it can't be done--Just done think you want to add in that much trouble shooting, when you have a problem (BE IT) WITH d* OR comcast.

If possible run a separate RG6 for comcast -- and it will make you life a little eaiser in the future.

If you use a SWM setup, it only uses 950 mHz and aboveOne important omission - SWM uses a 2.5mhz control signal. DOCSIS uses 5-42mhz for the upstream channel.

So it's probably technically possible for them to co-exist on the same coax, but you'd need a diplexor carefully designed to do it. I'm not even sure if a passive device like a typical diplexor woud be able to isolate frequencies so close to each other.
