I have been running my 508 for month or so and I have ran into a few bugs. Well one might call them features.

If the program guide changes after you create a weekly timer the timer will adjust.

For example, American Idol went from 1/2 hour to an hour on wednesday. When I pulled up the guide it showed the hour glass in the whole hour time slot. I ofcourse thought that the timer was correct so I did not change it. I missed the last half hour of American Idol. This also happend with Fear factor.

Before you go saying that it is time based, I understand that. however, the unit should be smart enough to adjust itself for these type of situations. At a minimum, it should not display mis-information.

Anybody run into this one? I have it it at least 3 times in a month and half.

Though the timers are time based, they need to be smarter about what there intent is and adjust if possible. IF they cant adjust then they should let you know of a conflict.

Bug or limitation.. Let you be the judge. I vote bug!!

The audio on my 501 goes out for a few seconds at a time much more frequently now. Interestingly, when I backup and replay (sometimes more than once), I can eventually get the sound to go with the scene. It's rather exasperating.

The time bug is hit or miss. I've had it catch some, but not others. I don't know why this is such a hard thing to fix, all they have to do is check the current time slot when the recording fires and adjust accordingly.

There actually is another bug tied to this type of issue.

If you by creating a timer you have a conflict with an existing timer that is a weekly timer. If you go and delete the existing timer it does not just delete it for the conflict it deletes the weekly timer all together.

This one got my too. This is not the expected user result as I see it.

Hopefully Dish is trolling

I've given up on weekly recordings. I've made it a Saturday habit to scan through the guide and pick what I want to see. Between Law and Order two hour season finales, America's Funniest Home Videos (missed the last hour) and Raymond's 45 minute show, I've learned if I want to rely on this PVR, I've gotta do this all manually. Fortunately, I have a SA Tivo hooked up in the bedroom as a backup. Tivo NEVER misses a beat.
