This would explain why my UTV has 16 hours of shows and is at 86% capacity of the stock 40 gig HD..

I know DISH went to stat-muxes quite a while ago (1-2 years) no idea if they've gotten considerably better or not in the interim.

That's one of the beauts of MPEG2, the same hardware will decode a better-compressed stream as long as it remains mpeg2 compliant.

Perhaps this is an advancement of that Harmonics system that Dish has.
