Just for general discussion of Xbox 360 stuff...

As an example, I had an awesome game in my online dynasty in NCAA Football 09 last night. Lots of see-saw interception-happy lead changes. Lost 31-28, though.

I've been pretty obsessed with Crackdown lately, too. Great little blow-everything-up supercop game.

Not to mention I just upgraded my 20 gig drive to a 120 gig with a little bit of hardware and a bootable USB key ;)

Anyone else?

I bought an XBox 360 "Elite" that turned out to be a reconditioned Xbox 360 with a 120GB hard drive added - but it was discounted so I didn't complain too much as the component video outputs looked incredible on the only widescreen TV I had back then.

Even though the compatibility mode didn't work (daughter wante to play the original Halo), I was having fun with the arcade favorites that I'd downloaded from the Live Arcade. Daughter gets hooked on Halo 3 and suddenly, I've basically lost the use of my Xbox.

The solution is simple, buy another one. When I got the big-screen, though, she wanted to play on THAT - it's never ending :)

For me, though, these days, it's lots of Rock Band and Guitar Hero - I've really taken to the drum kit :)

Hm. Actually that sounds like what I did to my 360. If you get an aftermarket 120 GB hard drive and format it in the 360, it never gets the compatibility partition put onto it so you lose backwards compatibility.

Hope you got a great deal, though. If I'd absolutely needed HDMI I'd have gone with an Elite, but getting the VGA cable saved me needing that. Lets me upsample to 1080p with no problem :)

I'll play Crackdown at least once a month, for being a relatively old game now it is still better than probably half of what comes out now. I went with the Arcade version pre HDMI and had it fail on me so I got it refurbed and immediately ebay'd it and bought an HDMI Arcade and then bought a 120gig off amazon for a song and had my own white "elite" for at least $100 less. The last month or so though I haven't played much 360 at all.

Recently bought the pro version 360. Didnt feel the need to pay extra for black and a bigger HDD. Havent played to many games yet. Just madden 09 and NCAA 09 Football.

Although I'm on using ol' wheezy I call her (Xbox 360 #6) shes running ok (I think) Played some awesome games of GTAIV Lost and the damned, just beat RE5

To elaborate, 1 video issue caused by a loose card on my first box that was noticeable when I first purchased the system Circuit city swapped. The rest where from the rrod issues. Microsoft has been very good at getting it replaced so I'm not complaining. got a free controller too.

I just picked up an xbox 360 elite and I can not get it to see the ethernet connection. I've tried setting up manual ip address and still no luck. It just won't see the router or anything else. I tried plugin it directly into the dsl modem and nothing. Tried plugging in to my laptop and nothing. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this thing to connect to the internet.

Maui - Have you tried going to www.xbox.com and looking through their support pages?

If you've got DSL and it's using PPPoE, you have to configure the 360's PPPoE settings if you're just going to plug it directly into the DSL modem.

Got everything up and working now.

Being a car nut I'm really enjoying Forza 2. Never thought I'd be running the Nurburgring.

I just bought the Resident Evil 5 Elite bundle. I am convinced that it is also reconditioned. I think special edition in the Microsoft dictionary means reconditioned. The first clue is when I went to set the date it starts years ago. This bundle came out Friday the 13th in March. If it was right off the line, I would think the date would only be a month off.

The RE5 disc would not play for longer than 20 minutes without a disc read error right out of the box. Other games play on it, so luckily it is just a disc replacement.

MS tech support tried to back out of the replacement because it is a third party software. I had to explain to them that they included it in the bundle.

We play World Tour, but my father-in-law is loving the drums. Still trying to go from Medium to Hard though. Meanwhile, I rock the guitar on Hard and Extreme.

I had what felt like, for me, a real "Twilight Zone" moment. I was playing GH:World Tour, on drums (I don't think I've played so much as a single note on the guitar) and next to me was my daughter. Now, understand that I'm 46 years old and my older daughter is 21 and graduating college next month. We're wailing away to some classic rock tune, she's having a timing problem with the guitar, heading for the red zone, and I bark out "I'll save you"..

That's when it hit me how strange and wonderful the situation was. The last time we 'played a game' together would most likely be either a board game like Talisman or a card game like Munchkin or Illuminati more years ago than I can remember. And here I was doing The Police's Synchronicity II with my daughter firing on all cylinders (once the timing issue was solved).

Now they've announced that they're going to re-release 48 of the the Guitar Hero I, II & III tunes with new vocal and drum tracks so they are GH:WT-compatible. I think I'll be picking that up right when it's released on June 16.

went the other way, located a Xbox 360 Arcade with a manufacturer lot date of 02/20/2009 to make sure it was a Jasper chipset and added the 120 GB hard drive to it, the drive was on sale for 100.00 so got ended up with a 360 Elite and a Jasper chipset and 5 games in the box.

Funny thing though, according to MS, the arcade was not supposed to have the HD cable in it, but this box did. Already had a wireless headset from the PC

So, you think it's 'reconditioned' because of the date and the RE5 game that wouldn't play...but it works fine on all other games??

It probably just had the default date for when the system came out in 2005...they all do that I believe...When I got my 360 when it first came out, I still had to set the date correctly...and so did my brother who bought one 2 years later and most of my friends...that doesn't mean it's 'reconditioned' at all in my book...Remember, the 360 came out during the fall of 2005, which was just over 3 years ago....also, if you have it connected to the internet it probably updated to the NXE...but that doesn't mean it's reconditioned either because the 360s don't come (yet) with NXE already installed on them (I believe, unless you didn't have to do that update and they do come with NXE installed on them).

Glad you got everything worked out though :). Hope you enjoy the 360 as much as I have for the last 3+ years :)

Just a little conspiracy theory. :) The game not playing was a bad disc. But I think the special edition boxes (IE: Halo3, RE5, ect.) is their way of getting around the word "reconditioned". Someone smarter than me might be able to tear one down and prove me right or wrong.
