'CSI' Is Top Show at End of TV Season

The CBS drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (news - Y! TV)" is officially the nation's favorite program, while CBS is once again the most popular network.

Wednesday's end of the television season, which coincides with the start of a frantic ad-buying period, also provoked an unusual argument about profitability among top CBS and NBC executives.

Among the smaller weblets, the WB leapfrogged over UPN this season for fifth place, up 9 percent over 2001-02. UPN saw an 18 percent drop in viewership, renewing questions about its long-term viability.

I wish it was a little cheaper, I would have bought it on the spot but over $70 after taxes is a little much.

Now that S2 of 24 has ended, I got S1 ($48) to watch S1 over the summer. I've previewed a couple of S! episodes and I think I will enjoy S! more the second time around since I have a better feel (clue) as to what was going on.

The S2 season finale was a surprise in that it wrapped up all the loose (not lose) ends and Palmer got his job back.

But when that woman came out of the crowd to shake Palmer's hand I knew something bad was up. I thought at first she was going to shoot him. The plastic skin on her hand was a cool twist.

I would buy the season sets of CSI if they were presented 16:9, like the high def broadcasts have been snce day one, but since they're not (thanks Paramount) I'll continue to pass on them.

Are you sure that S1 wasn't filmed in widescreen format?

CSI was, indeed, presented in 16:9 HD from episode 1, season 1, I saw them. Shame on you guys for buying it in Foolscreen and supporting their BlockBuster mentality. Well, at least BB is now bowing down to widescreen.

Hold your horses. I'm a fan of presenting the series in it's original aspect ratio, which means that I buy widescreen.

I didn't start watching CSI until the mid-second season, and I refuse to watch the CSI repeats on TNN because of the annoying black bar.

So, my question is a legitimate one.

Okay, no more black bar on TNN, but CSI overlaps with Adult Swim. :(

Also, CSI-Season 2 DVD set will be released on September 2nd in widescreen format.
