View Full Version : Component Video Question
What is the difference between YPbPr and YCbCr?
Here ya go:

In essence, YPbPr is analog and what we think of as a component connection. YCbCr uses only a single cable and is digital.
I own a scan converter that can output compenent video but the output uses 3 cables but is labled YCbCr not YPbPr. the scan convert can laso output compsite vide and s-video and rgb.

I have seen that as well, I dont know what that is about.
Have you tried just hooking it up to a standard TV component input to see if it works?

it works nut how does an analog input understand digital?
Ok, looks like it is because it is describing the color space in this instance:

Y'CbCr is often called YPbPr when used for analog component video, although the term Y'CbCr is commonly used for both systems, with or without the prime.
Also because manufactures seemingly just mislabel things all the time here. It is a YPbPr Connection since it is analog.
the grandtec ultimate xp pro has the component out labeld YCbCr but the grandtec hd wire has the component out labled YPbPr.
