Is anyone watching this show? Eliza Dushku is easy on the eyes but I think the story lines are not all that good. Terminator which precedes the show is much better in my opinion. Topher Brink, the scientist made me sick with his acting in the last episode. Adelle DeWitt as the head of Dollhouse does a good job of being on the evil side.

I'm watching it, I like the premise. Yes, the storylines could improve but hopefully it will be given the time to do so.
And yes, Eliza is VERY easy on the eyes. :)

I'm watching, but have not been very impressed. Apparently the first 5 episodes were for the network and things start to get interesting with episode 6 (where the network released the leash on Whedon).

I watch it... so far not to bad. Eliza is fine!

I've really enjoyed it. the first couple of episodes have been setting up the premise of the show. Now that we know a bit more, I think it's ripe to start heating up for the longer term story line. Joss has a history of making some great tv shows, if allowed to do it his way (FOX really messed up with FireFly, which IMO was a great show...). Give the show a couple of weeks and let Joss do his thing.

The thing that has impressed me the most, so far, is how Eliza is able to look "blank" when not programmed to be anyone. Amazing...

It was obvious in "Tru Calling", when we first were aware of her, that Eliza Dushku was already a seasoned actor. Frankly, at the beginning we liked the basic premise of that show better than this one.
But "Dollhouse" appears to be developing some subplots, but right now Dishku is carrying the show. That's a pretty heavy demand on a character that looks blank a third of the time. The writers need to step it up with the other characters.

Yep, I've read that as well. I've only watched the pilot so far and it's "ok" but because it's Joss I'll give it a shot. But waiting until episode 6 to actually get good is near death for a series. Frankly I'll just pile them up on the DVR past episode 6 and see if Fox cancels it. If they do then I'll just dump it and not get invested in it. If it gets renewed then I'll watch it. Since my watching doesn't get counted it doesn't matter much if I wait or not.

There is noticeable improvement in episode 3, enough to give me hope for the rest.

I missed the premier completely, but have watched every episode since. I really like it. In these times, I want a show that is far fetched and unbelievable. It makes me stop thinking for a while and just enjoy. I loved Tru Calling as well and think Eliza Dushku is quite an actress.
But I definately agree that they need to step up some co-stars for her. The actor that plays the security enforcer was really good on Homicide, I would love to see more meat for him.

I've only watched episodes 1 and 2 so far, I really like the idea of the show, but I'm not sure if I like the way it's implemented for lack of a better word. I'll keep watching to see if it gets more to my liking.

She was in a bunch of movies [she was awesome in Soul Survivors, and was one of the leather clad babes in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back] and on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Angel before Tru Calling. But I agree, she's a talented actress.

I really liked last week's episode (03/07/09)
I've been watching all along. Wasn't too impressed with the pilot but felt the show was improving each week. Thought it hit a good stride with this episode.

Obviously the long running plot is that she is retaining all of this and will blow up at some point.
I can enjoy a few episodes lead up for the more casual viewer that are unclear, to give the show a following of the simple minded who need assistance on plots.
Sometimes to get a big following, you need to add flashing lights.

The slow moving plotline doesn't bother me too much however the amount of contrived lines is really starting to bother me. [I was about to put some examples in but didn't want to spoil!] IMHO they are attempting to brute force a plot line that should be subtle.

I'd be interested to know what you consider contrived lines. If you're concerned about spoiling something, put it in spoiler tags.

The first time I saw her, she was playing Arnold's and Jamie Lee's daughter in "True Lies." According to IMDB http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0244630/, she was 13 or 14 then...

Perhaps you are mistaking Harry Lennix for Andre Braugher.

I am talking about the enforcer that works directly for the British boss lady - the one trying to get the FBI agent out of the picture. He is Reed Diamond who played Kellerman on Homicide.
I would not have called Echo's bodyguard a security enforcer.

Andre Braugher is an outstanding actor as well. Would love to see another Homicide movie. My hubby loves The Shift which is in Baltimore as well and is by the same creators (or producers?). I don't like reality shows, so it does not appeal to me.

are you referring to the actor who was in Journeyman (the cop brother of the main character)?

I forgot about Journeyman. I think that was Reed Diamond. If so, then we are talking about the same person. He was Kellerman in Homicide, Life on the Street and now he play some kind of security guy with the evil understones on Dollhouse. I am pretty sure it is the same guy who played the cop brother on Journeyman. Funny, he plays a lot of law enforcement characters!

He was in 19 episodes.
He is a solid actor and his character would be a good one to bring out in this show.
Harry Lennix, her bodyguard, is also strong. But the exotic looking Dichen Lachman born in Kathmandu, Nepal to a Tibetan mother and Australian father, may be the sleeper in the cast if they decide to do a backstory on her. She was in 88 episodes of the very popular, award winning Australian soap opera "Neighbors."
In fact, there are a number of good actors in this show if Whendon is allowed to develop characters who aren't aimed at the age 16-25 male demographic.

Phrelin, you are right again. I also had forgotten about Judging Amy. Stuart was the one who had a heart attack, correct?
I would like to see more of the bodyguard. He is a great character.

I expect the bodyguard to take a bigger role as Echo starts to splinter her personalities. He'll probably end up being her protector/confidante.

Is is me or do you think the writers could do a better job with the episodes. The last episode just seemed boring and silly with the people's reactions from some drug. I think that this could be a much better show with better writers and scripts! The only saving grace was Eliza Dushku in the skirt with the white socks.
I initially stockpiled 4 episodes before I started watching, not because I wasn't interested, but because I didn't have time. I through before I watched that the first episode that this would be a form of Love Boat where instead of just the guests changing each week, that so would the "crew", as in Echo would be someone new each week, but I didn't think there would be that deep a core mystery.
Well, after watching the first I decided it was much better than I thought - I guess it helps to go in with low expectations - and I did want to stay around for the next. I'm now caught up live and think it has grown on me, so I'm really enjoying it and look forward to more.
I am looking forward to next weeks episode. I think the show is finally starting to get good.

I'm just worried that this show has nowhere to go. Its kind of like prison break - the "dolls" are starting to "wake up." So, now what, they break out and hide from the evil masters for a few seasons trying to regain their identities? I dont know... I like the show but I'm worried that it may not have another season.
They could always come up with another way to wipe the dolls, so that all this has happened before, and it will happen again. ;)

I kinda like the show... It seems to have the potential to do well depending on how they start to unravel the mystery.
As for Reed Diamond... Det. Terry Crowley in the pilot episode of "The Shield", Det. Jack Vasser on "Journeyman", Det. Mike Kellerman on "Homicide", Stuart on "Judging Amy", and bit roles in a lot of other major series. I don't remember him being in "Serenity" though.

This show has gotten noticeably better over the past two eps so i'm really starting to look forward to where it's going. Unfortunately it's gotten the kind of ratings that would only keep it alive on a satellite/cable only channel such as USA or SyFy, so it might never get there. I guess from the time it was put on in mid-season on a friday night on Fox we all pretty much knew it was doomed though huh?
