I would like to know if any of you guys could outline the process of becoming a authorized retailer for dish and direct. what kind of money is involved? is now a good time to do this? a step by step outline would really help out! if you have a website that explains it all. I have already emailed dish for a info pack. if you have a perticular person at dish or direct that can help ?
Thanx

You will need deep pockets to be a retailer, maybe being an affliate to an already established retailer is the way to go...there are several companies that offer affliate programs, I had look in to it myself... check these pages http://www.vmcsatellite.com/channels/affiliates.cfm and http://www.digitalsat.com/Partners/Overview.asp
Hope that helps you out ;)

I would not recommend being a retailer of your own. A bad time to get in. It was good a while back but now its not so good.

Unfortunately, being an affiliate of another company does not mean the charge backs will not trickle down to you just as if you were an authorized dealer
If someone is interested in a part time income through satellite, they may consider being a contract installer. At least then the installer typically gets paid for the installation and is on his way regardless if the customer disconnects in a week and the dealer looses his A**.
When I was a dealer, there were many days my lead installer made more $$,s than I did !

That right there is about the only way to be in this business in any way and make any money without the risk of backcharge, become an installer or a service man instead of selling the systems. Sure you may make more money selling them in addition to installing and servicing them for each sale but not when you start getting charged back a lot more and have a lot greater risk. Using that time to install and service more systems in the same amount of time may end up making you just as much or more without the risk and with money you know you get to keep instead of wondering for 8-12 months.
