I dunno if this is the place to ask or not.

I have an HR20 (I think, its the latest HD DVR). It has two tuners I know and is able to output to another TV I'm pretty sure.

So my question is, can I output it to a TV upstairs and just get myself an RF remote instead of getting a whole seperate box for upstairs.

I have Coax going to every room in the house, I can feed OUT of the DVR into the basement to my media panel and then IN to the feed for the upstairs room. Of course this is just coax so I won't get the best picture either...

We are NOT humongous TV watchers and sacrificing one tuner for upstairs is no big deal...unless it would just be easier to get another box...but those take up space and cost money!!!

Anyway, thoughts????

Will work nicely, but it will just show the same picture as the main TV.
You can't use it like the dual tuner Dish Network boxes.
But don't expect the best PQ from coax, you'll also need a RF modulator since the HRs don't ha ve coax out.

Right, as Mertzen said, you can run it to both TVs with two different output types. For instance, you could run and HDMI to one tv and the component cables and audio rca cables to another tv. Or get the RF modulator to use the coax. And also, as he said, it would be the same picture on both TVs.

I've got an HR22 connected to the LCD in my bedroom via HDMI and a DLP in the living room via component. The remote that came with the HR22 was RF capable so I can use it in either room.

Ok, so there are options but from the sounds of it. Since I already have a coax feed to the other room and can easily tap into one of the 3 remaining outputs of the dish I might as well just get a new receiver for $100.

Glad to know the option is available.

Thanks a lot, I might get the RF remote anyway just for the glow in the dark buttons.

And another 5.00 per month for the additional receiver. I changed my mind because of that since I have HD hookups from two TVs to one receiver now.
