For the last few days, the response time for channel changes and surfing the guide with the remote control have been very slow. All other keypad functions respond without a delay. What could be causing this and how can it be fixed. There have been no setup change and the native setting makes no difference.

not for sure i hope someone has a better response for you but one thing i would check is that the scrolling effects is turned off under the display settings

You're not alone!

I have just about had it with this damn HR21-100 !!!!!!!!!!!

I am sick of it! Super slow response times and sluggish guide.

I swear, for what I pay a month, I feel like switching if it wasn't for the contract.

I have an old Hughes Tivo SD-DVR120 in my master bathroom and oh my god is it faster! It's super quick and I love it. These HR** units are horrible, they always have been. Tons of lag, you push guide, and have to wait 4 seconds for it to respond.

I cannot wait for the new Tivo box.

DirecTV needs to can this crappy software they've developed and buyout Tivo and put their software for the DVRs if they wanna keep customers.

bearcat250 try a red button reboot. May or may not work but it is worth a try. Very similar to rebooting a computer that has locked up. If this doesnt work try unpluging the system for a little while. Hope this helps.

A second comment on my origional post, I purchased a RC64RB remote at Cicuit City during the liquidation and have it progrmmed to my second HR21-100. That system does not have the same delay issues. Maybe it's the remote itself with those specific keypad functions. Any thoughts?

OK, I gave in and pushed the RED BUTTON. It seems to heve helped. Is this the future of DirecTV? I have enjoyed almost 9 years of DTV and will probably never leave, My DTV Tivo time was great, The HR21 time is ok but Tivo still rocks. I hope thigs will improve.

That is indeed very interesting. Have you tried the new remote on the 'slower' hr21 too?

Our hr21's are slow lately as well, so I hope you really are on to something. I just don't see how that would be it, though.

Despite the irrational rants, it's not necessarily the HR21 -- my HR21 seems fine, but he HR20 has been ridiculously slow. Try the reset as suggested.

There's nothing unusual about this technique. I've always rebooted my PCs once a week "whether they need it or not". There are all kinds of memory situations, disk conditions, paths through the software, etc. that can slow a computer system (aka DVR) down that a reboot can clear and reset.

This has been a problem for several models for way too long now.
