IF this is what I think it is, this could be VERY big news. I believe this case is the settlement of a suit where Pegasus/NRTC claimed that their distribution contract with DirecTv survived the life span of DBS 1, DirecTv's first satellite. The court decided in DirecTv's favor, meaning that the contract is as written, and that it terminates with the life span of the DBS 1 satellite. Once DBS 1's expected life span is over, which is probably not far away, the Pegasus/NRTC distribution contracts are also over and done with. Goodbye Pegasus/NRTC.

This would be great news for us Pegasus customers! I think it's fair to state that we would all rather be DirecTV customers like most of you. Sure would like to know date that present contract between DirecTV and Pegasus could expire. Anyone know?

I got a $1 bet that DBS-1 will come down with Rupe-itis and be 'non-functional' by the end of '04

They probably will not be able to end DBS-1 early. Pegasus would sue again for sure if they tried that. Gee I do not know how that thruster got stuck on for so long and threw it into the atmosphere...

With all the reported losses of DirecTV customers by Pegasus it doesn't look like Murdoch is happy with their poor performance (proves they are not doing a good job) and hopefully cuts the ties. Their stock is so low he could just buy them before their Contract expires and do everyone a favor! Wouldn't that be great?

TOP STORY - Pegasus took aim at DirecTV's comments concerning the litigation between the companies. As a result of summary
judgment rulings by the federal judge presiding over the case (first reported in SkyREPORT), Pegasus and NRTC said they reached the objective they have sought for four years, "a jury trial on their claims that DirecTV has breached obligations to provide premium programming, launch fees and advanced services to NRTC and Pegasus. Pegasus and NRTC look forward to an expeditious trial on these issues and are confident of a favorable verdict," Pegasus said in a statement.

Talk about spining. Wow. So they did all this and lost all the way up the ladder so that they could get what they wanted, a jury trial.

RKing, if you think that's Pegasus propaganda, you should see some of the stuff they hand out to people who live in their territory. Claims of "Enhanced Directv through Pegasus" are all too common. Some people around here think the only way you can get a combo receiver/PVR is through Dish... they don't even know about DirecTivo. I thank God every day that I'm a mile into Directv territory....
