I have a Terk 3LNB integrated oval dish that I am using for Directv. All was fine until the past couple of days. We have a lot of clouds and some rain for the past couple of days.

Here is my problem. For the 101 and 110 satellites I get about a 60% to 80% signal strentgh but 0 on the 119 bird. Would this indicate a bad LNB, Rain fade issue or an aiming issue.

Has something similiar happend to other people? and if so what was the fix?
I do have an installer coming out next weekend to install my HDVR2, but I already activated it so I will ask that he peak the dish for me to make sure it is aligned properly.

Thanks for your suggestions

I've never had rain fade other than a very brief (just a couple of minutes) during the hardest part of a torrential downpour. Never on just overcast days.

First guess would be water has gotten into a fitting on a cable. Rain fade should only happen with a heavy rain then it should clear up usually a loss of 5-20 min. Worst thing is because the dish looks through miles of atmosphere the heavy rain may not be falling right where your dish is but will usually arrive shortly after the signal is lost.

It could be that water has seeped past the plastic cover on the LNB horn and ruined the assembly. If this happened, that LNB is toast and will need replacing. Check the cover for obvious cracks or breaks. It's also possible to be an alignment problem if the dish has shifted slightly because of the rain. Tilt is very important on a three-LNB Oval setup. What receiver do you have?
