View Full Version : Rain fade, 110 vs. 119

Alright, I have an interesting question here... every time it rains, the 119 channels will go out. I know that rain fade is normal, but this is EVERYTIME it even just drizzles a little. The puzzling thing is... the 110 will register a signal strength 90 or better while I am getting no signal at all from 119. Is there any thing I can do about this? I have not had any of my 119 channels since last night...

Sounds like your dish is not pointed correctly. It is pointed at 110, but the skew is wrong and it is not locked on 119. If you went through a local dealer you should contact them about fixing it.

Or you have a cable or LNBF problem that lets water in when it shouldn't...

I installed it myself. The skew is set perfectly, right on 129 (I believe thats the number..whatever the number is its set right there) and everything is balanced and all... when its sunny out I can get a signal reading of about 75-80 on the 110.

Do you have the 721 or other recievers? If you have other recievers your signal reading should be much higher, up around 100 or more. An inexpensive sat meter can be used to peak the dish.

If it is a cable problem, you can redo the cable with connectors that are weatherproof. I use Digicon connectors around the house, a lot of people on this board swear by Snap and Seal. You can also buy cable with the outdoor connectors already put on it. I know Lowes here stocks RG6 Quad with connectors in lengths ranging from 8 to 100 feet.
If you have a crack in the LNB then you probably just have to replace it.
A sat meter can be used to get the signal up to 100 or more on both satellites at the same time.

It's the LNB. I disconnected everything apart and back together again and still nothing on 119. I called Dish and they're sending someone out Tuesday.
Hopefully the sun tommorrow will dry it out so I can have TV again before next week!!
