View Full Version : Price of Distant Nets went up!!
$3.50 each network now.
Seems like they were $2.25 each network.
Wonder what will crash next(re: EPG, Full Court, etc.)? :)

Wasn't the price of the Distants going up addressed in the recent price increase information. This shouldn't be news, should it?

I suspect that this is an interim step up in pricing, pending them being phased out over time (as LILs continue to be deployed)...
CW went up to $2.50. I think PBS went up to but I dont sub to it so not sure on the new price for it. SD DNS did go up to $3.50 for both coasts though.

I still pay nothing for HD DNS.
I don't know of anybody who paid for HD DNS. I certainly didn't, but do have to pay for SD Locals and Distants.

I pay for HD DNS. Locals are not available (Amarillo, TX DMA), and I don't get SD DNS just the high definition. Cost on this month's bill $2.50/network, total $12.50 for the big 4 and a SD PBS.

So you dont sub to the CW?

mine went up to $2.50 for each east coast network, here in california. I'm debating if worth keeping since there only sd,but i do like having the choice of getting different nfl games during football season.also primetime programs at 5 p.m.

After my DMA's digital transition is complete I am debating about dropping the east coast SD DNS and just keeping the west coast.
I dropped all my DNS feeds when I read about D* price increases. I felt since I had my locals now that the DNS feeds were a good place to start cutting my bill from D*.

Yep this is going to be another loss of business from this LONG time sub that they will be suffering very soon.
Lost me as a decade plus premier sub due to thier ineptitude at filliing out their premium movie lineups all the while jacking long term loyal customers for more and more money a few months ago.
now this.........
way to go D*.

For all the economic talk about deflation, I'm sure not feeling it, at least since gas prices stopped crashing. Just about everything else is moving in one price direction and it's not down.

If D* ever addes my locals then I might consider dropping DNS at least the east coast anyways.

I'm thinking that SD DNS just isn't worth it. When I had the HD distants it was a good deal, but since the HD DNS stations were taken away in January, I'm thinking that this is 12 bucks a month better spent elsewhere.

I doubt that dropping one coast will save you any money.

It aint much but it is some. I think a single coast SD is $2.50 but I am not sure.

If you're grandfathered in and go to change them you have to qualify again.
Checked my statement online today. $2.50 ea. for CBS, FOX, and PBS. CBS and FOX are available in HD, PBS isn't. Out goes PBS. I held onto it hoping that HD would eventually come along, but I'm tired of waiting.

does this mean any one can get them @ that price or still need waivers from affiliates ?

You need approved waivers to get them period and then that is the price for one coast. Its $3.50 if you want East & West coast SD DNS feed.

You actually have to ask your local network stations for a waiver, which you'll never get. That's because your they want you all for themselves.

Never say never. I am in a grade A signal area and I have all but CBS approved on waivers and I had to have 2 different DMA markets approve my waivers. I was told it would never happen to but I got it done.

I have had both distant networks for over a decade but I am at the point that the $14 a month does not justify the cost any more. I'm in the east coast and kept it mostly for NFL games as well but not worth it for the odd different game on Sunday. If I want football bad enough i can use cost savings from distance ($168) and get rid of Starz ($156) and get NFL Sunday Ticket.
