I have one digital channel available, have the jvc model 6000, put a 8vsb module in a couple of months ago. I noticed that the channel was black, called the station engineer. I then made the mistake of clearing it from my saved channels, and now I cannot save it. It shows a good signal(over 87%). any ideas? I did try a reciever memory dump, it did not help.

Did you do a channel autoscan, or enter it manually? If you didn't do the autoscan, try that.

Tried manual and automatic modes, no luck.

Here's the deal. The 6000 has an issue with some stations having both an analog and digital channel available. Delete the analog channel and then try setting up the digital channel again. It should work.

Ask the station engineer to reset their PSIP generator. I had a problem the last week not being able to save a channel, it was mapping to itself: it normally maps to Ch 6 but it's UHF frequency is 40. When entering the channel, it would come up as 40 instead of 6 and would not save or tune in. The engineer reset the PSIP machine and now it's back to normal.
The PSIP is the biggest cause of headaches for the 6000.

Called station engineer, the parent station is 300 miles away, so whenever they get a chance to send someone down here to reset, will find out if if worked. Thanks for the idea, he seemed to think that was the problem also.

OK,
What the heck is a PSIP generator, and what does it do?

Like I said before, to get around this problem, delete the analog channel. I stopped calling my local station because it got to be a hassle.

Woah! This fixed a problem that I had with Fox45 in Baltimore. I was able to get their Digital channel when I first got my 6000. But after a while it started to lockup and reset the 6000 whenever I tuned into it.
I must have added the analog station at that time. I read this post, deleted the analog 45, and now the digital Fox45 is working again.
Thanks Chris!
BTW: What exactly is the 6000's problem with this analog & digitial channel issue? Are they both trying to be 45-00? or something else? I did notice that when I first scan for it on 46, it shows up in my guide as Fox45 on 45-01. But when I tune into it for the first time, it loses the Fox45 moniker and changes to 46-01 in the guide. Something ain't right with them.
BTW: This is a sinclair station. :D
