View Full Version : Incorrect Installation Address

I moved about 6 weeks ago, and had DirecTV move my service through their "Movers Connection" service. My service works fine, and my dish shows up as belonging to the new zip code whenever I check zip code on my receiver(s).

However, while I was able to update my phone number and billing address successfully, the DirecTV web site shows my old address as the installation address. I have called them literally 6 times about this. Each time, the rep says it's fixed, when I know it isn't, because I can see that the web site isn't displaying the correct address. For instance, my last call was 1 week ago, and the web site still shows my old address.

My question is this: Are there any potential adverse consequences of having this incorrect installation address in their system? I'm kind of tired of trying to fight through this, but will do so if it is going to avoid bigger headaches down the road.

Thanks.

I have had the same exact issue going on 2 years. (used movers connection and they have the installation address wrong) I have also tried many many times and been told it was fixed, to no avail. I would be interested to know if there is any issue with this condition also.

Well, it's good to know someone has made it two years with this problem!

2 years also. The only thing I think it will effect is a possible issue on installs/problems. Just make sure you have them double check the address when having a tech come out.

If directv is anything like the call centers I have worked at, it sounds like their address system is having a hard time accepting your address. I would suggest either emailing them or writing a letter asking them to change the address. A person processing written correspondance will not have same time constraints as a customer service agent, and they can take the time to fight with the system until it works.

Gee you called Directv and that STILL did't fix the problem? Wow, I am just stunned! Anybody who reads the posts here on dbstalk knows that any call to Directv concerning any problem receives instant attention! To hear that you contacted the good people at Directv and that didn't get your problem fixed just rocks my world. Is there nothing left to believe in?

I had the same issue after using the Mover's Connection. My billing address is my new address, but the service address is the old one. That was a year and a half ago and after a few phone calls to DirecTV, I gave up.

I'm just not sure what's going to happen if I need someone to come out for service.

Seen this from the other side,

The installation work order is for the old address. the customer has moved and the house is empty............Then my phone rings.........where the hell are you man?......Me? I am in Maryland, who the hell are you? I am a with DirecTv in Battle Creek, MI and your customer is waiting on you. When can I tell them you will be there?...... (In fairness, happened one time in twelve years)

Errors enter the system. Suck it in. Many other jobs went in without problem.

The impact for a customer is a possible incorrect local programming....get the Cleavland locals even though you moved to Florida. You pay the bill and nothing will change. If you like the arrangement as it is, do nothing. They may get around to your account.

Ah, memories of the couple of years I spent at Sears......as a tech in Ventura, CA I was sent service calls for appliances in Bakersfield, Seattle, and Phoenix. I even got one which was an emergency "must go today" where the address was a P.O. Box and the phone number was out of service. If we can't find you, we can't fix it......

Other techs got calls in Camp Nelson (couple of hundred miles away), Jacksonville (yes, the one in Florida) and New Orleans. Best one I had was turning up at a house to service a freezer to have the door opened by a rather bemused lady who only spoke Spanish. After some discussion with our translator, she handed the phone back to me, whereupon I was advised that the freezer was at her sister's house.... in MANILA!

Yup,

We all have those..........went to the WO address and it didn';t exist. Called the installation company and left. Then another call mentioning escallation and a sudden lack of future work unless I arrived soon.

Turned out some lads were using a sister"s address and telephone to order stuff for their digs. Four empty trips. Finally the sister got the message that she could have DTV at her home ONLY. I put her on the phone with the DTV Spanish speakers........did a good job of explaining everything. I ate the four trips.

I didn't use mover's connection when I moved, but I just emailed them and they changed it w/o any issue.

You forgot to enable the sarcasm flags on your post. Seriously, did you add anything to the thread?

To the OP. Don't worry about it. As mentioned, if you have a service call, make sure they have the correct address then.
