Force download on a 4700

A friend of mine has an Echostar 4700 system that has a few problems. Somehow (one of his kids or maybe while moving) the front panel got broken, everything still works fine using the remote but he is unable to power off using the front panel.

Is there a way that he can force his receiver to download, possibly a code entered with the remote or some other method?

P.S. Is the current software version stable?

My advice would be to call Dish and get a software reset code. Just explain to them what happened and they should be able to help you out.

or pull the card.

We'll probably try pulling the card first and then give Dish a call if that doesn't work.
