Does anyone know if the Directv satellites are higher in elevation than Dish from Washington DC? I have had Dish for several years, but the trees next to my house have grown and I get more interference each spring.

I currently don'd have HD, but will probably get it at some point.

Thanks.

The elevation to 110 and 119 (which you probably don't need) would be exactly the same. For 99, 101 and 103, the elevation would be a bit higher and azimuth would be further east. See http://www.dishpointer.com to get specific numbers.

I don't know about Washington but in Alabama the sats are a little higher in the sky than Dish. That was the way I was able to get satellite with D where I couldn't with E. At least I couldn't get sat 129 with E due to the trees.

If you don't need international programming, you only need 99, 101, and 103. DC's SD locals are on 101.
