how come dvd decryption is not necessary when you use vlc to break the law?

Probably because the analog copy goes to crap by the second or third generation. The digital copy is perfect forever.

please do not go off topic like last time.

All I want to know is why it is not ilegal to make an analog copy of movie.

I already know that vlc will almost do it.

That's kind of the point.
This isn't a legal forum. Where's the technical question?

Why are you trying to continue a discussion that has been locked?

Besides, I believe the gentleman asking the original question in that thread has received some useful information via other means.
