I suspect the answer is no, but can I remotely cancel recordings using DVR scheduler?

I'm out of town and I saw a movie on HBO I wanted to record. Just after setting it, I realized I might be low on room and thought I should reschedule the record to a later date/time (because HBO shows movies more than once). I don't see an option to cancel the recording though. Is there anything I can do? Or am I just going to be surprised as to whether or not I'm out of room on the DVR?

Sorry, I don't know of a way to cancel a recording. You do know that the oldest recording will be deleted to make room for a future recording?

I know that. But I've been gone a week and don't want any of the recordings I made a week ago to go away before I've had a chance to watch.

I wish you luck. So bottom line is don't use online scheduling if you think unwatched shows will get deleted. :)

If there is someone in the house that doesn't use the DVR, you could have them unplug it. But, then your series links won't record.

My cure for this is to set my regular schedule to "keep" the shows I don't want to miss. Then, if I schedule a movie that might run me out of space, the movie gets deleted.

Luckily, I set my bedroom DVR to record most of the same shows. I originally did this after my HD DVR crashed a couple of times. The HD DVR has been rock solid reliable for over a year now, but I never stopped the pseudo backup recordings. Good thing. I don't really care if any of the shows on the bedroom DVR get erased and there should be plenty of space on it anyway. But HD movies take up a lot of space on the HD DVR and I'm almost certain to lose at least one show on it. Oh well.

My cure for this is to set my regular schedule to "keep" the shows I don't want to miss. Then, if I schedule a movie that might run me out of space, the movie gets deleted.I don't know if this has changed, but I believe in the early software releases there was a difference in behavior with the Keep Until I Delete settings ...

My understanding was that if you pressed BLUE on an item in the Playlist, it was marked KEEP with a blue (K) and would never be deleted by the DVR. However, if you created a series link with the Keep Until I Delete setting, the item would appear in the Playlist with a blue (K) but there were still circumstances where the DVR would delete the program.

To play it safe, I've always gone into the Playlist and pressed BLUE on any program I wanted to ensure was not deleted by the DVR. I know this doesn't help you in your current long-distance situation, but thought I'd bring this up for a future consideration.
