It's natural. Analog pay services are being pared back in anticipation of the all digital deadline in a few more years for the long term and in the short term, they need to convince more people to start adopting digital service instead of cable ready.

It is also much easier for people to steal analog cable. So, they move all the premium channels up to digital which is much harder to steal.

Starz on CoNcast, oops! I meant Comcast :D here in Chattanooga has always ben a digital only channel. On the current rate and channel cards, Comcast shows all the digital premium channels as digital, I think CoNcast, oops! I keep doing that ;) and many other cable company's are phasing out their analog premiums and going digital only on these. More and more only basic and expanded basic cable are analog.

Same here. Starz! is only digital only on Comcast. To get digital, one must pay for full analog first (typical in cable-land). Isnt Starz! currently in a big dispute with Comcast(over fees)? If Starz! decides to leave Comcast temporarily, The DBS competitors would enjoy that all the Starz! channels are satellite only, in the Comcast markets .

Here, HBO, HBO2, HBO Signature are kept analog still though, and one can take locals and the 3 HBOs here, without all the cable networks. This is good for those that want the special programming from HBO, but dont want the cable programming.

Dish has this option, locals and premium, but DirecTV requires a base package to be taken
