Anyone ever heard of Xobni? It's an add-on for MS Outlook that really makes using Outlook so much more useful. I found this on a tech forum and downloaded it from the source, and it's fantastic and really makes me want it for my corporate email!

http://www.xobni.com/

It indexes in the background, supports live searches with instant results, displays social networking information for contacts in the current email message, lists email to the same contact, attachments exchanged, etc.

It's really a great tool and I'm going to do everything in my power to convince my enterprise IT folks to make this available at the office. I'm definitely drowning in email there, and this would make life sweeter!

P.S. It's currently free, I don't know if that will ever change!

I looked at it a few weeks ago, but decided that I didn't need it.
I generally keep a tidy enough house that I saw no benefit from using it.

I tried it at work and removed it after a couple of days. It killed my Outlook performance.

My volume of email in the office is hundreds of times what I have at home, but so far at home there's been no problem using it. What I love is the instant search results and having contact information at my fingertips without having to go digging for it...

Drew - I found Google Desktop to be much better for searching Outlook e-mail.

I had Xobni installed and used it for a few months, but like wilbur_the_goose, I found some performance issues, I uninstalled a few months ago. Some of the stats features were nice, but not really necessary. Google Desktop was (and still is) more than adequate for my needs.

I hear Xobni's out of beta now, so don't know how much longer it will be free!

I use it for my work e-mail... which averages about about 300 to 500 e-mails a day... doesn't break a sweat. I had performance issues with one of the first versions they released. I do however have a Dell D830 Laptop with 8gb of ram.

Google desktop does I admit index the mail faster, that is because it doesn't go into your pst files... it pretty much does your inbox and that's it.

Xobni does everything and so does Windows Search.
