my setup is as follows
HR20-100, HR22-100, D10-100
I have had a Slimline 5 and multiswitch installed since Jan 2007. 2 weeks ago both of my HD DVR's lost total signal on 103(c) even transponders. This was on both of my HD DVRS. So I bypassed the multiswitch and all signal levels on all transponders were 92 - 100. Therefore I concluded that my multiswitch must be bad. I bought a replacement multiswitch through Solid Signal. I installed it today. When I did all was fine 92 - 100 level on all sats and all transponders. 5 hours later today I notice a local PBS SD channel missing for signal loss. When I look at the signal levels I notice that 101 even transponders and 99(c) even transponders are all at 0 signal level. All other sats and transponders including 103(c) odd and even are all showing 91 - 100 signal levels. The 101 loss is showing up on all (3) receivers. The 99(c) loss is on the (2) dvrs.

What is causing this???

How long are your cables from the dish to the multiswitch, and from the multiswitch to your DVRs/Receivers?

Have you checked that the coax cables at your dish and ground block are snug, dry and corrosion-free?

With even transponders missing, it is probably voltage drop from the receiver to the dish. The receiver sends 18VDC to the dish for even transponders and 13VDC to the dish for odd transponders. If the coax run is too long, or poor quality cable or has a bad connection someplace, the 18V signal could drop low enough so the dish does not recognize it as an 18V signal for even transponders.

How long are your coax runs from dish to multiswitch, and from multiswitch to receiver? What type of coax (RG59, RG6 with copper clad steel center conductor, RG6 with solid copper center conductor)? If your runs are long, it is critical to have RG6 with solid copper center conductor. (Long would generally be over 100 to 125 feet total). Putting a multiswitch in the middle someplace just makes the demand that much greater/worse.

A simple solution might be to add a Sonora power inserter/phase locker (HRPID1422) between the multiswitch and the dish. But don't do that until you have made sure all connections are clean, dry and not corroded.
