Does anyone have an idea about why my Caller ID functionality works so sporadically on my 721? I have the "Enable Popup" checked under preferences, but it has gotten to the point now where it never displays. Occasionally I will see a new entry in the for some time period where I'm not home and I wouldn't even have expected the dish to be turned on. I generally don't get much help from Dish's "customer no-service" so I haven't called yet.

BTW, I have a telephone intercom system that is VERY sensitive to REN overload and sense I replaced all my cordless phones with .1 REN devices it has worked fine. All that is to say that if I had a REN problem, it would likely show up on my intercom system that I had for 2 years prior to the 721.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure your system is PROPERLY grounded. A lot of times bad (or no) grounding has turned out to be the problem on DISH Network receives with Caller ID.

Same on the 721 . I have to reset mine when ever I see that the caller id doesn't work . It is very random thing and I never know what preceded this to cause it to happen.

Buy a radio shack TALKING caller ID box. MUCH more convenient! TV does NOT have to be on, Be anywhere in house to heaR WHO IS CALLING. Best of all you can customize frequent callers with their name. TIM, etc. Really handy. I dont use the caller ID on E because the RS one wqorks so well.

Our 721 is having the same caller-id issues. We never had a problem with this function before L1.11 software. Now our caller-id is very unreliable. Maybe the same guy that never touched the screen saver didn't touch caller-id as well.

Shut down power to the unit (unplug it if you don't have it hooked into a UPS or power strip) wait ten seconds and plug it back in. This clears it up for me when the caller ID stops working (It's happened four times in 9 months)

Well, i finnaly have caller ID working. Never worked on the 508, but using the same phone line, works great on the 721 I just added.

Not sure why the Caller ID issue has been so messed up. Read all the time about it not working. How hard is it to intergrate Caller ID? All the phones in my house work fine and pick up Caller Id fine, no Ground needed :)

I grounded my system, and caller ID magically began to work.

I will say there is a lot of voltage going through a dishpro setup.. shocked the bejeezus out of my finger!

I remember getting knocked against the wall from a shock on an old tube TV set once.

I was doubtful of BillR suggestion (reading his posts over the last couple of years I shouldn't have been) because I knew (thought) my system was properly grounded. However, when the tech installed my 721 he had to add an additional switch, WHICH HE DID NOT GROUND. I won't complain too much though because the tech GAVE me the new switch and I'm not sure that is standard operating procedure.

When I grounded the second switch, I still had to re-set my box twice for the caller id to begin working. It has been working consistently for the last two weeks. I guess that explains why my 508 has been working fine all the time since it was connected to the properly grounded switch. Thanks to Bill R and BobMurdoch!!!!
