Since there seem to be a lot of nightmare stories out there, I thought I'd give my installer some props even if he doesn't read this site. There aren't a lot of people giving props which is the nature of the internet.
This guy was pretty good. Though he had some snags along the way, I am completely satisfied with what he did so far. The couple snags were the lack of a part for the dish. Apparently the installers share pieces and he was missing the BAU. Comes back with everything. Hit a snag with the HR22 activating, but after that was done, everything is great. He did the install in such a way that I am happy. I had not even thought of the method he used for my install. I don't think I will have any issues.
The one thing I wish I could do again is when the survey called, I fat fingered an answer to the clean up question. I gave him a 9 because no one is perfect. I just hope he doesn't get dinged by that fat finger of the 2 key on that question.
Of course one thing I got to wondering was when he programmed the remote, he programmed the volume on the TV. I don't use that. I use the AVR volume. Not a big deal as I got it working. Had I been a non-technical person who is afraid of the manual, I would have been upset about that.
I'm glad you had a good experience.

nothing to be upset about as the tech is only suppose to program your TV to the remote. stereos and av equiptment is for you to hookup unless you want to pay custom money to start having a tech get involved with all your equiptment. Im sure if you told tech not to program remote to your TV as you are going to program to your AV equiptment , he would have complied !!! glad he did everything he was supposed to

Oh, not me being upset. I could see where someone might get that way if they are afraid to RTFM or expected it to be done.
The only thing he did mention that may cause me problems is my flat cables that enter my door. He said they needed to be a specific specification. I had not seen that here. They are these cables. (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-206%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&FTR=flat%20coax&CFID=6634158&CFTOKEN=42301301) I don't think they will cause me a problem. I just wasn't sure how legit that is.

I gotta ask, what is / are BAU?
As an installer for many years, I mention that those flat cables will work fine until they are damaged......then people look around for someone to fix the installation.

I gotta ask, what is / are BAU?The back assembly unit. Used the acronym off solid signal. Figured it was standard. LOL!
He had the metal piece to connect to the reflector but not the one that connects to and goes on the pole. So what's he do, goes and gets it from another installer. Funny thing was he said that's why he didn't have one.
I've had the flat cables go bad but they were the eBay specials. This set seems to be better constructed.

Ah!
Those things. They ship them (heads) in cases of four. The Dish itself is shipped in cases of six with the masts. Happens. The wise child cuts all the cardboard off and loads the eq in his truck so it can be inventoried easily.

Its nice of you to share your "good news" story, especially since most folks don't take the time to do so.
As the case with most "feedback" situations, you tend to hear the "bad news" stories much more than the good ones. Kudos to the installer.
Thanks for sharing.
