OTA channel switch

In my area CW is currently on 66.2 which the AM21 gets, but on Aprils 27th it will switch to 38.2. will the AM21 automatically pick that up after I rescan?

depends on if the station correctly sent the info to Tribune Media services. Tribune then supplies the info to D*
the am21 doesn't actually scan like a tv tuner, it only looks for what the database says it should receive.

is there a way to add the channel to the am21 or do i just have to wait for directv to put it on there?

Tribune needs to update. If they are properly notified by the station ahead of time, it shouldn't take long. You may need to have it rescan, but so long as it is in the guide the right way, it will pick up on the changes.
