I have a new local channel that just popped up this morning and there is a message saying I need to add a second dish in order to receive it. Is there any other benefit to having a second dish besides to get this one channel? It is a channel that I never watch so I probably won't get the second dish if it is just for that one channel.
Thanks!

The HDTV channels are also on that satellite (61.5 or 148). DishNetwork will install the dish and all necessary hardware for free. Go ahead and do it, it's free!!!

Take advantage of it - it's completely free. You might even get your switch or other equipment upgraded.

Snoofie, first off welcome to DBSTalk
Go for it, why not, it's free :)
It will give you the option of adding Sky Angel (if it is the 61.5 bird).

You'll have a cool 2nd dish on your house and you can tell the neighbors that they suck compared to you.

You can use it when you go camping or traveling or something (will not get the channels in top150 package or some locals with a dish300).
I had a few minutes of rain fade the other night, (amazingly with all the rain we've had Ive only faded once) and the one dish was out, but instead of doing something dumb like read a book, I just switched over to a channel on the 61.5 dish and watched a little bit of news from NY.
