Computer "kills" Signal

Got my new HD monitor yesterday, and using it as my TV as well. The problem is, whenever I switch the monitor to one of the other inputs, my computer stops sending a video signal to the monitor. Even when I go back to that input, the monitor says it's not getting a signal. Only way to fix it is to unplug the computer (I know, but I can't see another option). Is this typical with a DVI connection (Older monitor only had VGA, so never used the DVI output)?

ATI Radeon X700 Pro Video Card

Seen it before.. check the maufacturers website and see if they have a solution.. hopefully you will have better luck than I did with an nvidia card..

Is this the card, or something Windows does? What if I go back to VGA (Monitor has both)?
