I was looking at the PDF for the SL3 and I read some where else that the OTA lines goes directly to the SL3
What is the “OFF-AIR” port for?
The SWM has an input for an off-air antenna. The SWM can carry both DIRECTV satellite signal and off-air antenna signal. If you wish to use an off-air antenna, you will connect the off-air antenna directly into the SWM, and then all outputs from the SWM will carry the DIRECTV and off-air signal. You must then use a special splitter, called a diplexer, to separate the two frequencies before connecting the output to a receiver.
In the PDF it shows it going to a diplexer...what I read wrong?

And I am guess only the SL3 has an OTA port and the Swm5/8 doesnt.

No, the SWM8 has an OTA port (built-in diplexer feeding SWM ports, not legacy). The SL3, SL5 or SWM5 do not have a OTA port and an external diplexer is required (however, diplexing is not recommended by Directv).

But works just fine, if done right.

Yup, I Diplexed pre-SWM with my Zinwell, BBCs inline, and diplexers at either end. Now with the SWM8, the OTA goes right in and the diplexers are only at the IRDs.

Its a wonderfully functional and easy setup.

I was so confused about the SWM today...so I had to ask the experts!!!
