Contacted dish asked for my locals in HD, Omaha, NE, I had a 1000.2 at western arc, asked for eastern arc, was told Eastern Arc does not work in Omaha. Tried again, was told 1000.4 was only for new customers. Tried a 3rd time and tech support said he would send them out, but Eastern Arc does not work in Omaha.
Installer came today, said he does Eastern Arc all the time, and put a 1000.4 in quickly. Then tried to change the work order, even tho the notes said 1000.4 the work order was for a wing dish. After ~1.5 hours on the phone with his dispatcher and Dish network they told me that there was no way to activate Eastern Arc, The dish tech said that I wouldn't be able to get any channels with Eastern Arc because I'm not a new customer (despite the fact that the channels were coming in just fine) Eventually they said they'd need to remove the dish because Dish would not authorize the 1000.4.
About 10 min after hanging up with them the dispatcher called back and said they had called Dish back and gotten the work order changed without a problem, so I got my 1000.4, and it only cost me a half day of work.
The installer was great, the Dish network reps were terrible, and kept lying to me "you won't get your channels", and when I asked what ones I wouldn't get on Eastern Arc, he said "I don't know we have over 5000 channels"
Just figured that I'd post and complain, and also make sure people know that the 1000.4 works just fine in Omaha.
It works everywhere - including here in Utah. I've got one in my backyard. You may not get your locals or RSN, but you'll get all the national channels.
You need all MPEG4 equipment and a new card, but those are the only technical requirements.

It is not the fact that it does or doesn't work, despite the misinformation you were given. It is moreso the fact that it goes against the business rules and policy the agents must abide by of Dish Network to manipulate the system into you getting an EA install if you are indeed in the WA, whether you care to believe that or not is your choice.
The agent that manipulated the system for you to receive an EA install, despite the system showing that you are in the WA could possibly be terminated, but the customer is always right...yeah?

According to the Lookup tool, Omaha is in the EA. No rules were violated.

There is no such thing as an EA activation.
Once a receiver is activated for your programming it does not matter which sats it comes from - YOU'VE GOT IT.
If you have WA (110,119, 129) and install a 1000.4 dish, all you have to have is ViP receivers with the G3 smart card (most subs should alread have it) and align the 1000.4 properly and the programming is there.
There are no "RULES" against ANYONE having EA or WA. You may lose some local programming or gain some local programming by switching, that depends on what is available, not what is allowed.

And I did say business rules and policies of Dish Network, not of you, Sir. The agents that work there must abide with the policies set forth by the Enterprise they work for if they would like to continue to be employed, just the same as you have rules, etc. where you may be employed. Try putting yourself in someone elses shoes.
I also said nothing of EA Activation of Installation.

Whether any one here agrees with it or not, the fact is that Dish has created business rules that state that Eastern Arc is for NEW customers ONLY. Dish CSRs are trained to follow these business rules, and the work order system is programmed to follow them. While there are a handful of people who have the authorization to override the system, they are breaking current business rules to do so.
