Beward of Unbundling

For those that bundle Dish with AT&T, just a word of warning. If you unbundle Dish from AT&T (as I did because I no longer had any AT&T services) you are hit with another 18 month commitment from Dish. Needless to say I'm a bit unhappy with this as I should be free of commitment and now have no chance to upgrade hardware for another 17 months.

Update: I called retention and was told that the commitment did not apply in this case. False alarm I guess, we'll see what happens when I either try to upgrade equipment or cancel.

Even if you have an 18 mo. committment, it has no bearing on your ability to upgrade equipment.

Equipment upgrades are under the Dish'N-it Up program and are 12 mos. in length from the last time you upgraded equipment.

Yes, the new commitment would have no bearing on you, only your original should apply to this specific situation, and usually a Dishin' It Up is a 24 month commitment, but you are eligible once every rolling 12 months, there are other upgrade options available as well, such as Like New equipment, etc...
