WASHINGTON (AP)—Longtime Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas has died at age 73.

Team president David Montgomery announced the death Monday a short time after Kalas passed out in the broadcast booth before a game in Washington against the Nationals.

Montogomery’s voice was cracking as he said that “we have lost our voice.”

Kalas had been with the Phillies since 1971 and was known for his distinctive “Outta here!” home run call.

Wow. Sad news. Talk about a recognizable voice. Not just for the Phillies, but for NFL Films, too.

RIP, Harry.

Despite not living in Philly - I have business trips there often the past 7+ years...so I recognize that he was a fan favorite.

Over the past year or two...he actually had some contract renewal issues with management, and rumors were flying already last year that he was going to be replaced. It was a topic of discussion there from time to time on WIP AM radio there...noting the poor way he was being treated.

Sad to see a legend treated that way, but he will be sorely missed by his fans in Philly for certain.

Saddened by his passing, but where it occured is kind of....can't even think of the word. It's almost as if his presence will always be there, in an even more symbolic way. The mystery of life........

Wow, so many memories!

This does remind me of when "the Gunner" Bob Prince died. Sadly they don't make them like Harry and the Gunner anymore.
RIP Harry, I know you're being welcomed by Richie Ashburn right now.

Not living in Philly, I knew him as the voice of NFL Films. When I found out he called *baseball* games as well, I was surprised. Such a fantastic voice and great speaking style. I got to hear some games of his when XM started broadcasting MLB games and he certainly was top-notch.
