501 timer indicator

I thought this had come up before, but I couldn't find it....

How do I get rid of the flashing on-screen timer indicator that starts a few minutes before a timer fires? I thought there used to be a preference somewhere that turned this on/off, but I can't find it anymore.

Joe,

You can press the CANCEL key on the remote and the on screen icon will disappear. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable the flashing icon permanently.

Bummer. There is on the 721. But thanks for the tip - that will at least keep the annoyance to a minimum.

That won't actually cancel the recording, will it? This happens while we're watching a previously recorded show, and we want the timer to fire, we just don't want to see it happening. ;-)

Your recording will kick off as scheduled (but it is unnerving to hit "Cancel", isn't it?).

I usually hit "info" instead. A small window opens with info about the timer and 3 options (which escape me now). It's less "unnerving" doing it this way.
