Does Directv make and newer HD DVR Receiver with an OTA hookup/tuner built in since the HR20-700 in now discontinued?

If not, is there any add on device i can install to the newer HD DVR Receivers to get OTA channels through it?

I'm doing this for my uncle, who has HD Receiver with no DVR, but needs something with OTA hookup/tuner built in..

There is no built in tuners, but there is an add on device, the AM21, you can get it directly from DirecTV.

Wouldn't an AM-21 be considered an add on device?

No.

Yes there is..... The AM21 is an add-on to the HR2s for OTA. You need to read everything the OP typed .

You know what? The AM21 is an "add-on device." I have one too and it does indeed "add-on" to both the HR21 and HR22 units I've had it connected to.

Isn't it amazing what one can notice when one actually spends more time looking to be helpful than the time spent looking to be . . . not. :)

I have little to add on the AM21 that hasn't already been covered...except maybe that in reading the first post, it seemed pretty obvious the poster was looking at all options, both internal or add-on.

Here is the best thread including details (and photos) about the AM21:

I've never had any reason to need an OTA tuner, but I understand from all my friends that the AM21 would probably fit the OP's need perfectly!!

My, how time flies. I almost forgot I was a field tester for it. ;)

My bad. I misinterpreted the question. I thought the OP wanted something to install into the HR21-3 (as opposed to install to).

If so, they will be refurbs (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I finally replaced my HR-10 TiVo on Saturday. The installer gave me a HR20-700, refurb of course. When I asked for a newer model, he said that was all he was sent! They are out there!
