View Full Version : swaping HR10-250 but keeping access to recordings?

Directv sent me a replacement for the old HD DTiVo, but I have a ton of stuff still 'archived' on it. (I guess that's the drawback of a 750g drive)

This unit should be 'owned' by me as I bought it from weaknees already upgraded well before the lease program started. (Jan 2005 for the Ealges in the Superbowl--how'd that work out!!!)

My questions are what capabilities will the TiVo unit have after DirecTV turns off satellite service to it?

Will I still be able to watch the recordings? Will it still be usable for OTA?

And if for some reason DirecTV does demand the unit back, in what time frame will they be expecting it?

Thanks,
Ryan

If they want it back they'll send you a return kit. Not sure what the time limit is but if it is too long before it gets returned you will be charged. But I doubt they want it back all together.

Yes, you can continue to view your recordings on your HR10-250 even after it's been deauthorized. You can also record OTA digital channels with it. You just won't have Guide Data or be able to schedule recordings.

I don't think so. You need an active "DVR Service" subscription for any recording features. Without that I think all you get is the 30-min record buffer. But I'm not 100% sure anymore.

I glad I kept my 10-250 connected when I got a free DirectvHD. It's been worth th extra $5 a month.
