I turn out my local Fox station today and its not on for some reason.
Instead of leaving me wondering if its my box or if its on the transmission end and instead of making me call in and wait on hold only to find out its being worked on they put up this screen:

"No need to call us- We are aware that this TV station is temporarily unavailable. We'll have this channel back as quickly as possible. Sorry for the interruption."

I seriously doubt Comcast would do that.

Thanks, DirecTV, for treating me like a customer.

+1. Even when it's bad news, I've always found that keeping the customers informed of what's really happening is key. IMHO, customers are often more understanding than many companies give them credit for.

That really was a nice gesture on D*'s part. Even nicer – and I believe equally appropriate – would have been allowing you to watch a national Fox feed until your local station's signal was restored.

Yeah, its nice to inform you of the problem instead of waiting for you to call in mad or uipset about the situation.

dont' they frequently open up the national HD feeds during major sporting events like the recent basketball tourney?

Usually when they happens they will turn on the national feed for you.

But hey, it saves calls to the hot line and keeps their service levels up.

It all comes down to customer service for me, and DirecTV wins at our house.
