Does anyone know if I can beat the deal that Rapid Satellite has for a DirecTV system for a new sub. with the following:

dish with Triple LNB and Quad Output (must have for Jackson locals)
Hughes HDVR2 Tivo Receiver
Hughes Director Receiver

Currently, Rapid Satellite charges $209.99 plus 19.99 shipping for this system.

I am currently with E* and have a PVR508, but I like what I hear about the Tivo receivers and have been considering a switch. I am getting married and need another receiver. Buying a new Dish 301 is going to cost about $100. With the deal above, the payment from my brother for current system (his equipment is malfunctioning badly and he'll be able to get locals for the first time :D ) and two free months of DirecTV, my net cost for switching is about $80. I need to have a DVR type receiver with two tuners, so I can watch a program while recording another (or record two programs simultaneously). I think this new setup would work better for me.

Anyway, if anyone out there knows of a better deal on a new system as described above, please post the details.

I need to update this post:

I found that Expert Satellite is now offering the setup above for $169.99 plus 19.99 shipping.

Does anyone know of a better offer than this? Not that the above deal is a bad one, but it would be nice if the net cost reaches $0. :D

Now my net cost for the system will be $50 ( miscalculated the net amount in last post).

Sounds like a good deal to me. You'll love it.

I think so too. My fiance complains about not being able to watch a program live while I am taping on the PVR508. She decided to drop cable and just stay over to my house in the evenings she wants to watch TV. I haven't got her adjusted to the concept of "record now, watch at your convenience later". However, that should change once she moves in after the marriage. :D

The savings with TC+, Tivo and locals vs. E*'s AT150 and locals allows me to get a second receiver and still save 6 pennies. :D The only major thing I lose is the Encore Pack, which I haven't watched a whole lot, since the movie selections are lacking.

Also, I get all the Jackson, MS locals with D*. E* doesn't have WB and UPN. They are negotiating, but may just decide not to get them. I could get WB and UPN through the superstations package, but that is $3 more. They should really be included in the locals.

Will the Direct TIVO basically just plug in to replace an Ultimate TV?
Or is there a complicated install. I love UTV but might consider the switch if it's pretty much plug and play.

It should be plug-n-play. Just take the UTV out and install the HDVR2. They have the same inputs and outputs, so it shouldn't be difficult at all. There is a learning curve when using a HDVR2 when coming from a UTV. They both do basically the same thing, but differently. I got to play with a HDVR2 last weekend, and it was pretty cool. I plan on staying with UTV until they have to pry the remote from my fingers, but the HDVR2 is a nice unit as well.
