Connect receiver to TV. Press menu 611.Enter your zip code. Read elavation specs. Adjust dish to specs. Point dish to approx. 170 degrees on compuss or a little bit west of straight south. Look for signal bar for 119 degree sat. Also if this is a Dish 500 you well need to call a local dealer and find out the skew (the center turn ring on back of dish) for your area. As for the 8ft. pipe your going to need an tripod ext. pipe for an sm. sat. dish unless this is an first generation Sony dish. You probably will not find a standard size EMT pipe to fit your mount but maybe an antenna mast pipe might work.

Get a 1-1/4" 10 ft length of Rigid galvanized conduit at Lowes. It is about $15 tax included. The actual outside diameter is 1.665" or 1-5/8."
Actually if you go to menu 611 put in your zip code then select DISH 500 it will display Az Elev & Skew on screen for you. If you are going to use a free standing 8' pole only 1 5/8" in dia. you may have too much flex in it to stay on both satellites in very windy conditions. You could try a larger dia. reduced to 1 5/8" for additional stability
