Ive looked here to try and find an answer here but couldnt so thats why im posting.
I called dtv about this last night,, WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!
First i get this lady who must be in the philippines as i cannot understand her at all and this went on for almost 30mins, then i kept telling her i need the tech line and finally she said she was going to co nect me, well after 5 mins the connection just dissconnects so back on the phone i go again and finally get to the tech line, this guy seems to know nothing about this issue and acts as though he is reading thru a trouble shooting book and puts me on 10 minute holds several times, i finally get pissed and ask him if he even knows what he is doing, he gets pissed and just hangs up on me.

I had ordered a movie that was 1080p and wanted to see how it looked on my new sony set, well i let it get to about 20% of its download and then hit play, well the sound was there but no video whatsoever.

Well i thought maybe its a glitch in the movie or data corruption but just a few ago i ordered the movie ghost town in 1080p and started it playing and the same thing, has sound but no pic:confused:.

Im sure its prolly a conflict/setting in either the tv or the hr22-100 correct?

Can anyone maybe let me know what and where to set the setting so i can watch 1080p movies?

TIA!!!

I think that the DVR only outputs 1080P/24, from what that line shows, the set only accepts 1080P/60

Yur right!!
Thats what the prob was, i had to go back into resolutions on the hr and turn off 1080p and the pic popped right in at 1080i
oh well no 1080p movie for me, but from what ive read you really cant tell the difference.
You know many of the shows, well at least the ones i watch on discovery hd, and the like such as axmen, helliloggers etc have fantastic detailed video, even after you pull up the resolution and see that they are actually being broadcast at 470p :p

Just wondering, when you selected 1080P on your DVR did you get to see a screen that says something like "if you can see this then press info". I thought this was a test to see if your tv supported the 1080P from the dvr.

I haven't rented a 1080P yet but according to this setup screen I would think my tv should support it.

The DVR only output 1080P/24, that set can only do 1080p/60. Check the documentation or website for your set and see if the 1080P/24 is supported. Most panels manufactured in the last year or so should, but there are exceptions.

As somebody already mentioned, when you switch-on 1080p (in the DVR) it comes back with a message saying something like; "if you can see this, your TV supports 1080p, click info to acknowledge". The idea is, if your TV doesn't support 1080p (their version of it - with 24 fps) then you won't see this and will not hit the info button.

I know this because I happen to have one TV (Mits LT52244 120hz) that supports the 1080p from D* and one TV that doesn't (Sony KDL46XBR2 60hz). They share two his-and-hers DVRs. One thing I found out through my own testing is that once you switch the 1080p on, it disables the component output - removing the option to have the second TV run off that connection while leaving the HDMI output set to work off 1080p. This means going into the menu and manually turning 1080p on/off as it is being used for 1080p programming or else my other TV won't work. It's OK for now since there isn't much programming available - my plan is to cascade the Sony to my office and get a new TV for the bedroom that supports 24 fps.

When I select 1080P I can see the screen so my tv (Sony KDL46V3000) should support it. That's all I was asking.

This is my Sony Bravia:

KDL-52XBR7 Video
Video Signal : 480/60i, 480/60p, 720/60p, 1080/60i, 1080/24p (HDMI™ only), 1080/60p (HDMI™ / Component)

I watched Transporter3 that was Pre-downloaded to my HR22-100 in 1080p last night--It was my first 1080P viewing from D*

Before I selected it I had viewed the video from D* (in the guide) saying that if I can see this then I'm good to go for 1080P :)

I then went to Display settings in my HR22 and set it for 1080P (the only other resolution selected is 1080i) I then went to the Top movie tab and selected Transporter3 and hit play Now--My HR22 Burped that my TV would not play 1080P do I still wish to view (hit confirm) I cancelled!

I then went back to Display settings in the HR22 and Turned "Native" on and show orginal format for display, Went back to the Top movie tab and Selected Transporter3 and the movie played as 1080P (my set never displayed the warning that it would not play 1080p, I hit the sony remote and it showed 1080p as well :)

As a Side note: The Blue resolution lights both 720 & 1080i where lite while watching the 1080p show. I think the HR22 did that because there is no 1080p resolution lite?

When the movie ended I Went to channel 249 (south park) and the resolution lite returned to 1080i only as it always has done :)

That is how I got it to work on my SONY. the only format I have selected in the display menu is 1080i & 1080p watch your blue lites when your watching a 1080p movie and see what they are doing for a compare.
