How long is the Dish PVR 721 warranty good for??? I am having the same problem as others with signal loss and pixelation on tuner #1 but want to wait till version L113 to see if that clears it up. If I have to RMA it sooner due to warranty getting close then I will have too. Thanks.

I think it's one year, but I'm not positive. But you should get the extended warranty thing for $1.99 a month - it covers all your equipment.

If you pay the $1.99 a month for the extended warranty and you have to RMA your receiver, will they waive the $15 shipping charge then? If you have the extended warranty, is 100% parts and labor covered?

If you have the extended warrenty and credit card auto pay, they should waive the $15.00 fee. I just Rma'd my bad 508 and no fee and they even credited me for the extra receiver cost for the month that it has been acting up.

Labor is not included in the $1.99 warranty just replacement of the component. Seeing it covers everything with the Dish brand on it that isn't bad for $1.99

I hate to say it but I doubt that the loss of signal on tuner 1 is software related. I ended up sending mine back because of a bad tuner 1, hardware related. This was months ago.
I can't imagine this is software related with so few people having the problem

Here's a weird question, I have the Digital Home Plan which is blocking me from getting the Extended Warranty as they say that my receivers are covered under the inhome service plan.

But isn't that plan ONLY covering the two receivers that I leased? (Both of those are up in my closet) I have since bought 2 Dishplayers and a 721. Are they covered?

I was holding off returning the units as I was getting price protected from the last two price increases, but my new bill just came in with a $3 price increase on the plan so I guess that is over. I also was only paying for one of the extra receivers at $5 a month. If I ditch the plan it wll go up $5 with the extra receiver. As I figure that it is $10 a month for the leased equipment, the $2 fee was cheap insurance to have spare receivers ready to go if one of the others failed. Now that the spread has gone up to $5, I am considering sending back the receivers.

Thats a good point. Its stupid to have the Digital Home Plan (previously Digital Dynamite) in a way if you have to pay extra for the receivers that you did not get on the Digital Home Plan to get them covered.

I just had tuner 1 in my 721 go bad. Dish replaced it for free, and with no shipping (she said if you are on cc autopay they waive the shipping). It was under a year old.

When I called to have my 721 replaced with this problem, not only did they do it at no charge to me, but I could swear the Customer Service person told me the 721 was warrantied for life. I was concerned because it was approaching one year old, and I wanted to make sure the problem was solved before then, and then she offered that statement. I do have the Digital Home Plan, but the 721 was added about a year after my initial installation. I am wondering if this is really true or if I just got someone who didn't know what they were talking about?

Called Dish last night and my replacement 721 will be here on Friday. Advanced tech I spoke with said there has not been alot of problems with the 721 and said the warranty is for one(1) year.
My pixelation and no signal problem on Tuner 1 has been getting much worse over time and like you treiher I wanted to get the replacement while it was still under warranty.

Bob, try adding the extended warranty to your account via the personal account at Dishnetwork website. No stupid CSRs to interfere.

That is what they might say but I too had a bad tuner. I see a lot of that here on 721's. I suspect the tuners in them have been a lot of trouble

I think adding programming especially this warranty online is also a great way of avoiding the CSR's in which sometimes makes it hard or try to upsell you or tell you that you cant do this or that.

Hooked up my replacement 721 on Saturday and all is well in PVR Land once again in my household. (Hopefully better when version L113 is released). Only problem that I had was three calls had to be made to Dish (last one was advanced tech) because receiver was not activating with command from Dish. After 45 min. on the phone with them I switched to the old smartcard and all was back on. Smartcard that came with unit was no good.

I have had one receiver out of the box come with a bad smart card. It happened only once and it was to a 2700 receiver.
